pink or blue!?! they didn't have a clue!

We could not wait to share our exciting news with our families! Luckily, we were already planning to visit everyone Easter weekend, so it was the perfect time to let everyone know who Baby McFee is!

First stop. Hartselle!

After the ultrasound I ordered this cake, and bought blue plates and pink plates in preparation for the big reveal. Luckily our family humored me and was willing to play the game. If you thought Baby McFee was a boy, you picked a blue plate, and if you thought girl, you picked a pink plate. The inside of the cake tells the secret!

the BLUE team!

Safe to say the McFees were thinking BOY!

the PINK team!

Pop and Payton (and Emily) were the only ones thinking pink!

MacMama did the honors of cutting the cake...

PINK
It's a girl! I think everyone was shocked!

Thank you for helping us make such a special memory!

It's a SHE!

On April 21st we were thrilled to learn Baby McFee was healthy and measuring right on track.
Thanks be to God! We also learned Baby McFee is a GIRL!

I've dreamed of having a baby girl, but for some reason kind of pictured our first child as a boy. Before the ultrasound when people asked what we wanted I HONESTLY just wanted a healthy baby, but what a joy just to KNOW!

When the tech said "you've got a...(dramatic pause)..daddy's little girl!" We were over the moon!

John was smiling so big I thought he might bust and all I could say was
"IT....is a SHE. it's a she! A.SHE"
(not really sure why I didn't say GIRL, but I'm learning I have odd responses in big life moments)

Here SHE is....

90

Grandmother had a BIG birthday in April, which means you need a big party! I am so thankful for all 90 years of my Grandmother's life and look forward to celebrating many more.

We love you Grandmother. What a wonderful evening! I can not think of a better reason to celebrate!

the dot

On January 27th we had our first big appointment. John asked where I wanted to go for a special lunch before the big ultrasound. I'm classy and fancy, so I chose Chick fila.
I was so anxious I could hardly eat my french fries...if you know me that is not a good sign.

I've never prayed to see a "dot" so hard in my whole life.

Within minutes of the ultrasound there IT was. The long prayed for dot.

The dot was a baby.

....our baby.

due September 17th.

I've never loved a dot so much.

January 16th

I've been waiting on the words to catch up with me for this next post...but I don't know that they ever will.

The one word I have is "thankful". On January 16th I took a pregnancy test. Unlike ALL the others this one said PREGNANT. The word never looked so sweet. John was at work that Sunday morning, and instead of sharing the news like I once dreamed, I called him. at work. and I think I just said
"IT DOESN'T SAY NOT"

Thrilled.

Bloodwork, lab results, progesterone, thyroid checks, bloodwork, labs...

PREGNANT

The official beginning to everything I have ever dreamed.

I've never wanted anything so badly, but had so little control. A lesson in trust. A time filled with prayer.
An amazing journey so far, and I am just THANKFUL that the lord had this journey in store for us.

the trip

After a three month hiatus, I think its time to get to blogging.

grab a cup of coffee, we've got some major catching up to do!

WAYYY back in January we took a little trip. Auburn had a little "away game". John dreamed of getting to go, but we knew it was not a realistic idea...until our friend Will called John letting him know that he had access to two tickets! All the pieces quickly started to fall in to place and we decided it was an opportunity we couldn't pass up! I was thrilled for John to have the trip of a lifetime, and was happy to stay home....until I heard words like Sedona, and Grand Canyon. Luckily the boys were sweet enough to let me  tag a long for a great adventure!

Trips are always better when you write about them while they are fresh on your mind. Three months later, not so much. Long story short. We had a BLAST. The trip was fun and easy. Sedona was beautiful. The Grand Canyon was beyond breath taking. We toured National Parks and Indian ruins. Great company and lots of fun things packed our days and nights!

...and surprisingly Will still wanted to be our friend after spending so much time with us!

 beautiful Sedona

this guy was spotted hanging out in a tree near the road on our way to the game...omen??

 the MAIN event

quite possibly the happiest moment of John's life

...for some reason John felt the need to document my shoe choice for the day :)

 cliff dwellings

 Lava flow trail

 Incredible Indian ruins

 Grand Canyon!

John gave my height phobic self a heart attack...but it did make for an awesome picture!

Thank you Will for the awesome opportunity!
